The DEA now requires all DEA-registered practitioners to complete a one-time, eight-hour training requirement on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders. Your deadline is the date of your next scheduled DEA registration submission on or after June 27, 2023. This course, developed and Accredited by AffinityCE, an ACCME Accredited and DEA-Qualified Provider, in partnership with PRESENT e-Learning Systems, fulfills that requirement. The course is presented in 8 easy to digest modules. You can complete them on your own time schedule. You will receive a Certificate of Completion for each of the 8 modules which is your evidence of having completed the requirement. In addition to the general requirement to earn 50 CME/CECH credits every 2 years for license renewal, California podiatrists have an additional requirement to earn radiology credits if they take X-rays in their office. The Continuing Education Requirements for Certificate/Permit Renewal regulations of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), last updated in Feb 2017, states that anyone taking x-rays in California must meet the requirements for licensure as a Certified Radiologic Technologist. Those requirements include earning 10 CME credits every two years, “related to the application of X-ray to the human body” which may include “X-ray administration, X-ray management, X-ray pathology, X-ray diagnosis and X-ray quality control.” They go on to say that, “It is the responsibility of the certificate or permit holder to ascertain the acceptability of the continuing education activity as a CE credit for the Department’s purposes.”

The 2025 Superbones Superwounds Summer Conference took place virtually June 21 – 22. The Conference was attended by close to 300 DPMs, Residents, and Students. Attendees learned from the top podiatric teachers, providing useful education that they could take back to their offices. Conference Co-Chairmen Harold Schoenhaus, DPM and Robert Frykberg, DPM, MPH, and a brilliant faculty delivered a virtual educational program that was uniformly praised by attendees. The Inaugural PRESENT Pacific Conference took place at the Western University of Health Sciences College of Podiatric Medicine in Pomona, CA November 8 – 9. Conference Co-Chairs were Adrienne Estes, DPM, MS, FACFAS, DABPM and Jonathan Labovitz, DPM, FACFAS, CHCQM. The event which provided education by some of our nation’s top key opinion leaders from leading teaching institutions around the country.

The 2025 Desert Foot Conference took place this past weekend at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown. The Conference Chairman, Dr Robert Frykberg, along with Co-Chairs Drs Charles Andersen, Matthew Garoufalis, and Thomas Serena led an impressive agenda with over 40 faculty from around the world to lecture on the latest in wound care and limb salvage. A record breaking 24 Workshops were well received by the attendees, allowing them hands-on experience with the latest science and techniques. The 2026 Desert Foot Conference will take place again next year at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown on December 9 – 12, 2026.
