West Virginia CME Requirements and CME Courses

The West Virginia Board of Medicine requires licensed physicians to earn at least 50 Category 1 Credits every 2 years, with at least 30 of the credits being in the physician’s primary area of practice. Another stipulation is that 3 credits must be on the topic of Best Practices Prescribing of Controlled Substances and Drug Diversion Training.

The West Virginia Board of Osteopathy has a different set of requirements for its members. License physicians part of this board must earn 32 CME credits every 2 years to maintain their license. Of these 32 credits, at least 16 must be AOA Category 1-A or 1-B Credits™. The board also requires physicians with a license to prescribe, administer, or dispense controlled substances to earn 3 of the 32 CME credits through a board-approved course during the renewal period.
