After completing the Insulin Simulation Instructional System (ISIS), you will be better able to start and adjust insulin programs for a variety of patient types. You will be evaluating a group of simulated patients and ordering and scheduling the appropriate insulin to stabilize their condition. Each time you order insulin ISIS will calculate the new blood glucose levels and will update the patient’s logbook accordingly. The patients will also communicate with you describing their progress. You will continue to treat the patients until you have effectively stabilized them. Along the way ISIS will give you expert help and opinions which will guide you in your task. As you work through each patient you’ll be developing a useful diabetes reference library which will help you in your day to day practice. 3 of 5 modules are presently available: Starting Insulin (3 cases); Making Adjustments (4 cases); and Advanced (3 cases).
