The high number of clinical visits needed to monitor and treat patients receiving intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapies for the management of retinal diseases creates a significant burden for both patients and their caregivers, often leading to undertreatment due to reduced adherence. To address this issue, new delivery systems and intravitreal therapies with extended durations that decrease treatment frequency have been developed and evaluated in both clinical and real-world studies.
