Learning Objectives

Objectives – After Attending This Program You Should Be Able To:

1. Discuss the interpretation criteria for carotid duplex scanning, visceral vascular testing, and peripheral arterial testing.
2. Incorporate duplex scanning and ultrasound contrast into a follow-up imaging program for patients having endovascular aortic interventions (EVAR, FEVAR, and BEVAR).
3. Describe the features of normal and abnormal Doppler waveforms using the latest terminology.
4. Discuss the management of complex aortic aneurysms with open surgical repair and endovascular devices.
5. Use the latest evidence-based guidelines for management of venous thromboembolism.
6. Recognize the importance of technical protocols for venous reflux testing and testing for pelvic venous disorders.
7. Use duplex scanning for pre-dialysis access mapping, assessment of dialysis access maturation, and diagnosis of arterialsteal.
8. Define the role of the vascular laboratory in the management of critical limb ischemia.
9. Discuss the optimal medical management for peripheral arterial disease.
10. Explain how to recruit and retain vascular sonographers and manage a quality improvement (QI) program in the vascular laboratory.
