This online learning module is designed to raise awareness for HCM and provide an understanding of how HCM can be diagnosed and appropriately managed. 

Learning Objectives

By the end of this activity, attendees will be able to:

  • Recall the etiology of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and utilize this knowledge to determine best clinical practice
  • Detail the common findings in patients presenting with HCM and apply these criteria to an example patient
  • Outline the echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging features that support clinical diagnosis of HCM and apply this to sample patient data
  • Classify the correct primary hemodynamic category for individual HCM patients (obstructive vs. nonobstructive) and interpret example patient data
  • Explain the diagnostic differences of diseases that appear morphologically similar to HCM and employ this on example data
