This course includes most of the instruction from the STS 47th Annual Meeting held on January
31-February 2, 2011 meeting in San Diego. You will find surgical symposia, general sessions, parallel surgical forums, surgical motion pictures, and the ethics debate.
After attending this course, you should be able to review the results of clinical and laboratory investigations designed to reveal new knowledge of cardiothoracic disease; evaluate the impact of new knowledge and the application of new technology on the treatment of cardiothoracic disease; discuss how
patient safety strategies can be introduced into your practice or institution; discuss surgical techniques in order to improve the standard of care;
describe how public policy can impact the treatment your patients; and provide mentored small group discussions where meeting participants can confer with leaders in the field of cardiothoracic surgery.
